This clock is a unique clock because of its history. The British parliament passed and act in 1797 that placed a tax on all clocks. At that time many clockmakers went out of business and the general public increasingly used public clocks for timekeeping. This style of clock could be seen in public houses and adopted the name "act of parliament clocks."
This is a replica of the parliament clock and features time and strike movement. It strikes on both the hour and half past the hour on a pleasant sounding gong.
