This clock is an attractive original flame mahogany fusee dial clock. The clock was made by the Dell Co located in Harlesden. The clock has an eight-day fusee movement and dates c1850. The dial is twelve inches and features a slim mahogany surround with the original clock hands. The case has both side and bottom access doors.
The city of Harlesden is now a suburb of London. During the 19th century Harlesden , then a rural village, transformed into a city with the arrival of the railways. The cottages, that dominated early Harlesden, were replaced with factories.
These clocks were proudly displayed in railway stations, police stations, offices, and English pubs during the Victorian and Edwardian eras.
