Some of the most prestigious clocks of the era were made for the London market, and this clock is a fine example. The hood has an arched cornice surmounted by brass finials and flanked by turned fluted columns. The case is enclosed by a long arched paneled door, on a plinth base and bracket feet. The case's inlay is absolutely stunning and you will be amazed for hours studying it.
The arched brass dial has a silvered chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic five minutes.
The Three train movement with anchor escapement was made by the prestigious clockmaker John C Jennens & son of London. The clock has a beautiful sounding set of nine English bells that plays Whittington on the quarter-hour. The hour is struck on a gong that has a unique and deep rich tone.
