Winterhalder & Hofmeier made some of the finest clocks of the Victorian era. What makes this clock collectable is it's small high. Winterhalder & Hofmeier made some excellent chiming clocks, often called directors clocks. However, they are just too tall for the average home.
This clock has an arched brass dial with a 5in silvered chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic five minutes. Additionally, this clock has a silvered fast/slow adjust dial, above the chapter ring.
The sturdy three train movement with dead beat escapement is a rack striking Westminster tune on a nest of cathedral gongs. The hour is struck on a gong with a deep rich tone.
