This is a very nice eight-day Austrian Biedermeier antique clock. It has a perfect two-piece porcelain dial and three weights; they are all original. The case is Indian Rosewood. It is unusual to find a clock like this with the weights and pendulum in such good condition.
During the latter part of the 18th century the Austrian clockmakers from Wien (Vienna) were known to make some of the finest clocks. During this time period Vienna clocks were hand-made by master craftsmen. Vienna clocks are considered more valuable than a common Black Forest Vienna regulator made by Lenzkirch or Gustav Becker.
