A really nice Seth Thomas grandfather clock. The clock has an eight-day movement striking on the hour and chiming on the quarter hour with "Sonora" patented deep toned resonated bells. The hour strikes on a deep gong.
The case is mahogany with a beveled glass door. The brass etched dial has a silvered chapter ring, Arabic numerals, and a moon-dial with the usual land and seascape scenes.
Seth Thomas was born in 1785 in a small town in western Connecticut. He was the son of a Scottish immigrant named James Thomas. He was one of seven children.
